A Project Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in the West Midlands.
Description
Position Description:
The successful applicant will lead a pre-development project to ensure that the next generation of diesel engines is fully compatible with future legislated bio-fuels. The work is a continuation of a TSB project studying this field which concluded in August 2011. Working in a team consisting of personnel and external industrial and academic partners to develop future engine management strategies for vehicles.
Job Requirements
Skills Required:
In-depth understanding of diesel engine technology. Understanding of bio-fuels and their implications on diesel engine performance. Highly motivated with excellent team working skills and able to deliver with minimum supervision. Excellent project management skills.
Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of data acquisition tools and measurement methods with reference to engine/vehicle testing and analysis of data. Development of engine/vehicle/component test procedures. INCA, Matlab and CAE tools would be beneficial. Understanding of Engine Management System strategies.
Details
Experience Required:
Experience of managing complex engineering projects to agreed time scales. Experience of delivering research projects with a high technical content.
Experience Preferred:
Experience of GTDS process for developing new technologies (or equivalent). Experience of product/technology development processes to ensure robust implementation through to production. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary organisation with interaction across many departments.
Education Required:
Educated to degree level in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Education Preferred:
Educated to a higher degree level (MEng / Phd) in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Additional Information:
A full UK driving licence is preferred as some flexibility working at both Whitley and Gaydon sites may be required.
