A world leader in the innovation, design and manufacture of Diesel Fuel Injection equipment are now looking for a Principal Design Engineer to take responsibility for the management of the portfolio of product designs and the associated documentation for Medium Duty Diesel Fuel Systems. The portfolio consists mainly of DI and IDI Rotary Pumps and Mechanical Injectors, but includes some other legacy products.

As the Principal Design Engineer your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Leading the design of mechanical and electro-mechanical diesel fuel injection system components in designated product lines
-Motivate, manage and develop the small design team
-Maintaining the drawings and other technical documentation in a way that ensures that they are up to date and in a way which ensures it is not lost when/if key systems or personnel are no longer available
-Ensure that designs are robust against foreseeable manufacturing and use events
-Design product improvement and cost reduction initiatives
-Provide design support to all manufacturing sites
-Participating in formal and informal design and development reviews at appropriate stages of projects

The successful candidate will hold a degree in mechanical engineering or related subject, Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer would be preferred.

Solid experience of a design environment in a business working on complex mechanical products at all stages of product life cycle from concept to service.
Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar) CAD package.
Must be able to operate effectively in a multi-national multi-lingual project environment.
Must be able to work under pressure and manage several tasks at once.
Must have good written and spoken fluency in English.
Some ability in second language (Turkish, French, Tamil, Portuguese, Mandarin or Spanish) would be preferred.

Current IT knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Project etc. and understanding of the capabilities of CAD and FEA packages.
