Client Information
Our Yorkshire-based client is a global Tier 2 designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic and electromechanical products for the automotive industry including control units, sensors, monitors and motors


Main Duties
The post holder will be responsible for monitoring quality processes and procedures and making decisions about the quality of products for the shift. The main duties include resource, train and manage personnel on shift, whilst maintaining operator disciplines, practices, procedures and motivation so that the department meets the targets set by both the company and its customers, cost effectively on a continuously improving basis


Job description
-Identify and promote the opportunities for continuous upgrading and improvement of the quality skills and techniques used within the Assembly area.
-Responsible for giving advice, coaching and training personnel up to lead operator level, updating employee skills matrices and ensuring that correct knowledge, skills and flexibility are in place to meet requirements in line with set targets.
-To ensure that any issues affecting, or likely to affect product quality are investigated and dealt with immediately to ensure minimum disruption to production and ensure any issues are not passed on to the customer.
-Co-ordinate operator and technical resource across shift to meet production requirements for equipment utilisation, output, efficiency and continuous improvement as defined in the annual company targets.
-Ensure all preventative maintenance plans for responsible lines are carried out on time and both machinery and equipment is maintained in optimum condition liaising with relevant department e.g. service department/maintainer operator
-Will be responsible for promoting good communications both internally and externally, ensuring prompt delivery of Team Briefs, line meetings, kaizen activities
-Ensure full commitment and support for training, communications, health and safety, housekeeping and personal discipline liaising with HR department for support and guidance

Key skills and experience
-NVQ level 3/4 in Lean Disciplines or HNC in an engineering/quality discipline
-Certificate or Diploma in Management Studies
-Previous supervisory experience in a similar high volume, high quality manufacturing environment
-Ability to motivate, lead and change attitudes at all levels throughout the organisation
-Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
-Good knowledge of quality tools and techniques including SPC and 8D Problem Reporting
-Strong IT Skills MS Office and ideally experience SAP system
-Interview skills and techniques e.g. Recruitment, Discipline, Appraisal, Return to Work etc.
-Experience of project work and continuous improvement initiatives
-Awareness of Injection Moulding
