Lead Design Engineer

Essential Responsibilities : Engineering responsibility for delivery of a high quality product that meets customer and business expectations.
Capture, flow down and validation of customer"s requirements.
Defining and agreeing the means for verification of requirements.
Create technical documentation (e.g. drawings, procedures, reports, change notes, concession, etc).
Ensuring that the product meets performance, weight, schedule, cost, reliability, safety requirements.
Set up design reviews and assist program reviews.
Set up function teams and problem solving activities to resolve design issues.
Mentor colleagues and support the development of their skills and technical knowledge

Qualifications/Requirements : Experience of designing actuation and landing gear products within an aviation business
Has good written and verbal communication skills
Is self-motivated and proactive
Possesses an understanding of materials, processing and manufacturing techniques
Has experience of preparing design WBS, lead time and resource estimates to assist the program team.
Has good knowledge of Solidworks, Catia V5 or Unigraphics NX would be advantageous.

Desired Characteristics : Able to clearly formulate and communicate complex and abstract design concepts via telephone and face to face.
Willing to participate in military product design.
Committed to deliver products on schedule under pressure.
Having organisational skills to deliver to budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
Able to work efficiently in a team environment.
Willing to occasionally travel internationally.
Able to advise and coach in a constructive way.
The confidence, flexibility, and risk management skills to develop new approaches and solutions.
