We seek a Applications Engineer for an initial 6-month contract based in Peterborough.

THE COMPANY:

Perkins Engines is part of the UK Caterpillar Group located in Peterborough. They are the leading supplier of off-highway diesel and gas engines for the agricultural, material handling, general industrial and construction sectors.

THE ROLE:

As Applications Engineer, you will be working level technical project elements between Machine Group teams and IPSD, across all relevant engine platforms and emissions levels, in order to successfully launch machines into production while meeting time, cost and quality objectives.
Key activities will include:
- Unite with Technical Leader, Account Manager, Product Support and others to become a key member of Perkins' customer facing team.
- Become a trusted advisor to assigned machine group for IPSD programmes and an integral team member of their team
- Develop, own and maintain assigned engine and after treatment specifications (performance and physical).
- Support prototype and pilot machine builds
- Pro-actively plan and execute in machine engine system testing
- Lead issue investigation and provide local leadership and support to Field Follow team
- Manage engineering issues through to closure whilst minimising programme impact
- Provide regular detailed review of programme status to customer and IPSD management (Design reviews, etc)

THE PERSON:

Applicants should have the following education / experience:
- Engineering Degree or equivalent
- 3 years engineering experience minimum
- Strong technical foundation, ability to debate and explain deep technical issues
- Understanding of engine systems, performance development, emission control, and electronic control systems.
