Design and Development Budget Analyst

This role is to manage and improve Design and Development spend. To develop a process to improve the management of Prototype spend and to improve the alignment between the PD Factory and Programme teams on engineering spend. PD Factory Management Resource planning is an independent department supporting management of Engineering spend: Resource, DandD and Prototype. Through provision and maintenance of accurate data including historical, synthetics (future) and actual in relevant currency. Reporting to the PD Resource Planning Manager responsibilities include:
For DandD Spend:
- Provide predictions to support the Business Planning process in line with agreed cycle plan iterations at a consolidated PD level.
- Develop and maintain Fiscal Year Original Budget allocation by Programme and CoC.
- Ensure compliance with agreed Change Management protocols and lead resolution of identified non compliances.
- Facilitate the monthly approvals process. Identifying submissions requiring Senior Manager explanation, reporting of actual and forecast Vs budget and Policy Non Compliance.
- Administer Budgets for vehicle programmes.
- Ownership of the DandD Process in support of related process improvement projects such as TFLE Synthetics and ePAS/PDL response Quality and Alignment.
- Facilitate the DandD Workstream contribution to PD Transformation including the PD Facilitators and the DandD Governance Meetings.
- Facilitate process and IT development in line with BSAP prioritization and ensure appropriate application of SiPPE Project management processes.
For Prototype Spend:
- Develop a process with VE to improve the management of Prototype spend including future planning, synthetics, programme spend, programme agreement sheets etc.
- Drive improved alignment between the PD factory and Programme teams.
Skills Required:
Able to lead the resolution of business and process issues within a multi functional. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with self confidence and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to form effective working relationships across functions and levels. A passion for "process excellence" and the ability to translate scorecard targets into discrete deliverable projects. Ability to focus process improvement activity to deliver hard financial benefits. Management of budgets involving significant levels of tension and competing requirements. Project Management including the optimisation of quality, cost and timing. Reasonable level of PC literacy, particularly in the use of Excel, Google, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project. The role will require regular inter-site travel therefore it is essential that candidates hold a valid UK driving licence.
Experience Required:
Previous experience of managing budgets, project management, and using Microsoft Office applications is essential.
Experience Preferred:
Working knowledge of the Product Creation Process (GPDS) and the drivers of investment cost.
Education Required:
Degree, in a relevant field or subject, preferred.
Additional Information:
Based at Gaydon, but occasional support will be required at Whitley.
