DESCRIPTION:
Based on a very attractive University campus, this Technical Centre was established in 2005 bringing together the best of European talent and expertise in whole vehicle development . Employing 250 Engineers and Specialists it is now regarded as an engineering centre of excellence. Over £85 million has been invested in the Centre since its foundation with plans for further with headcount growing to 350 this year and into next. Engaged in conventional IC engine, hybrid and electric powered vehicle development, the Centre is located in Coventry, commutable from Birmingham, Leicester, Warwick, Milton Keynes, Northampton. A very exciting opportunity has now been created for a Technical Specialist in Chassis Mounting Systems (CMS) to join the team.

VAC REQ:
Pitched at Principal Engineer level, this is a great opportunity for a Chassis Engineer with a strong background in Chassis Mounting or Suspension Systems currently working for a vehicle development consultancy, a vehicle OEM or a Tier 1 supplier of anti-vibration systems / components to be the Domain Expert for these systems. Aspects of the role are summarized as follows:
- Deliver Chassis system projects from concept to production.
- Lead / support as applicable all aspects of design, test and development from planning and preparation through integration to vehicle, execution of test and production implementation.
- Support / lead as applicable the generation of system targets and the generation of test, development and design standards, guidelines and procedures.
- The generation and maintenance of system and component level FMEA"s.
- To support and liaise with suppliers and customers during project activities regardless of location.
- To provide Launch Support for manufacturing and at customer locations.
- Support will be focused upon passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
- During the initial period in this role there will be a need to travel overseas on a regular basis, this need will diminish moving forward.

REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will need to be Degree or similarly qualified in an appropriate Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive industry with a good record of leading teams and / or the technological development of Automotive Chassis Mounting or anti-vibration systems. Candidates with a strong background in Suspension Systems are also encouraged to apply. A good general knowledge of all vehicle chassis systems is required and experience in structural FE and ADAMS dynamic analysis would be useful. A background including vehicle test and development including limit handling would be an advantage. Personal attributes needed include the ability to inspire a team to strive for improvements and high customer service, strong numeracy and literacy, good logical reasoning and the ability to overcome cultural barriers.
