Compliance Engineer

To establish, control and update legislative compliance programmes for each project (vehicle/MY programme) as assigned by management. Review company policy documents and establish areas of compliance affected. Establish testing requirements with Product Engineering, Vehicle Safety, Power Train Engineering and other areas of the company as required and directed by regulatory requirements. Monitor conformance of programmes to required legislation and ensure that new updated regulations, directives and other policy type information are input to the programme teams with plans to accommodate agreed. Provide management reporting of programme performance against agreed timings and actions to support Product Creation System processes and new model launch gateway agendas.

Skills Required:
Ability to communicate to all levels within and outside of the company, recognising that the role is not always popular with the engineering community but having sufficient force of character to ensure that the message of vehicle compliance is understood. Able to play an active role in programme teams and within the department team ensuring that team principles are applied with a positive view on desired outcomes. Manage meetings where issues of legislation are reviewed, ensuring that desired outcomes are known and positions clear from a legislative perspective. Making sure that commitment is gained from the engineering community to deliver compliant vehicles in line with GPDS timing. Fully PC literate.

Skills Preferred:
Organise work to ensure that deadlines are met and there is robust monitoring of the deliverables such that any risks are identified in good time, allowing management escalation as required.

Experience Required:
Knowledge of Certification processes for automotive compliance (EC-WVTA, UN-ECE compliance, EC Directive Compliance) and Component Certification (UN-ECE or such like). Working with ISO, SAE, CEN or other Standards based organisations in testing or certification of products. Safety compliance testing. Vehicle Engineering or Programme background.

Experience Preferred:
Chinese Vehicle or Component CCC experience. Indian Vehicle or Component Certification Experience.

Education Required:
Motor Vehicle related qualification, such as HNC or HND, is required.

Additional Information:
Position split between Whitley and Gaydon sites.
