An Aftertreatment Engineer is required to work for our large automotive client based in Essex.

Description
Position Description:
Aftertreatment Engineer DV Powerpack

Primary responsibility is to design and release aftertreatment systems for all vehicles which take the DV powerpack. Russia, and many systems for Asia Pacific market to the current or in some cases future tailpipe emissions standards within those respective markets. Candidate will need to work with exhaust and calibration teams to define aftertreatment systems for a number of new vehicles; this would include working with Gebze and Aachen. Use Emissions lab, out sourced engineering organisations and/or supplier test facilities to carry out DVP on production intent systems. Support all catalyst TVM actions.

Job Requirements
Responsible for managing the approval process for catalyst releases: Support change control meetings. Liaise with FMCSA, PVT, MP&L, suppliers, homologation, exhaust and calibration teams to expedite the release process. Ensure all documentation required to support a release. Prepare timing chart and issue to all parties; suppliers, calibration, homologation, exhaust and FMCSA to ensure agreement on implementation timing. Support Homologation process. Supply all necessary catalysts in time and review emissions results prior to certification. Ensure development targets are achieved.

Skills Required:
This is an extremely demanding role and the candidate should have an understanding of the basic chemistry involved in the purification of exhaust gases from diesel and gasoline powertrains as well as good problem solving skills and be motivated to understand in depth technical problems which may arise. They should also have good organisational and project management skills. As much of the role involves interfacing with many different engineering teams, purchasing, suppliers, etc good team work skills are essential. They should also be aware that their actions contribute towards the profitability of our client and as such be self motivated and be able to run projects with minimum supervision.

Education Required:
Degree level
