This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class team responsible for bespoke product design, development and manufacture. The New Products and Applications team is core to the unique offering of a complete engineering service and involved through concept design and development, prototype and validation testing and low volume manufacture and systems integration. Steering and braking systems are supplied to a range of niche automotive Customers .
The role involves the opportunity for involvement in the mechanical design of a wide range of mechanical products within the automotive and aerospace business. It will involve working closely with customers and suppliers offering plenty of variety in a customer-orientated environment.
What you ll do
*2D and 3D CAD for current projects
*Perform finite element analysis on design concepts
*Ensure all design documents conform to ISO standards
*Provide mechanical engineering support to business projects
*Ensure that all designs conform to customer requirements
*Manage suppliers and obtain quotations to project specifications
*Produce clear and professional design reports
*Support prototype build and testing
What we are looking for
Essential:
Educated to Mechanical Engineering degree standard or equivalent qualification
Demonstrable mechanical design experience of automotive systems with a good knowledge of manufacturing technologies
Experience of Catia V5 and Ansys
Good Personal management and communication skills

Desirable:
Knowledge/experience in automotive system design and manufacture
Knowledge/experience in mechatronic design
Experience with Solid Edge and Pro Engineer
Knowledge of BS8888 and GDandT is a distinct advantage
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to learn quickly and adapted to varying work requirements
Working knowledge of PDM systems
