Contract Quality Engineer

Our client acquires, develops and applies new ideas and improved components to support their customer s products. They also offer design, development, manufacture and software services and products to the aerospace, space, energy and transport industries.
A new contract opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer up to the end of 2011.
Reporting to the Quality Manager (based at Lincoln site), the individual will be responsible for the following:
- Provide a quality engineering service to aerospace engineering and manufacturing project teams, including technical support in the identification and interpretation of company, customer and international standards/specifications.
- Provide assistance in the preparation of appropriate and adequate quality procedures and working practices, quality plans, process charts etc
- Working with the project teams to ensure that these procedures are suitable and sufficient.
- Provide a quality assurance service to the engineering and manufacturing projects through conducting internal compliance audits and supporting quality reviews with customers, arranging, implementing or responding to corrective actions as necessary, and closely monitoring these until they are closed-out
- Register and progress concession requests and to liaise with suppliers and the engineering department to ensure that concessions are reviewed, sentenced and closed out in accordance with Company procedures.
- Provide assistance to the Operations Director in the generation of quality metrics and reporting data as necessary.
- Conduct supplier quality audits as necessary in support of the purchasing function.
Experience Required
- Will have worked in the aerospace industry and be familiar with ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements.
- Proven experience conducting quality audits and supporting customer and third party certification audits.
- Good understanding of precision machining and processes, drawing practices, calibration, certification standards.
- Understanding of quality management tools (e.g.. 6 sigma, Pareto, Kaizen, 5Ys, 8Ds etc).
- Proven experience in the manufacture of flight hardware would be a distinct advantage.
Qualifications Required:
- 5 GCSEs including English and Maths
- HND or equivalent in relevant discipline desirable
- Recognised internal auditor training
- Good IT skills in MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel
Other Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills
- Car driver (visits to our Lincoln manufacturing facility will be required, maybe weekly)
- Knowledge of aero engines / rotating parts an advantage
