Part of a major global aerospace group engineering mechanical aerospace systems, our client now has an opportunity for a Commercial Manager. Reporting to the Commercial Director and working in a small team, the Commercial Manager, will lead all pricing activity within the company and be responsible for liaison with other functions to gather information to support this activity.

You will be responsible for the preparation of draft contractual documents and negotiation with the company`s customers to close new transactions, amend contracts and resolve disputes. You will also be responsible for the preparation of documentation for relevant corporate approvals of transactions, provide advice to the company`s sales team as to the viability of proposed transaction, provide assistance to the Commercial Director with the preparation and maintenance of the company`s Commercial Policies and Procedures and assist in the development and training of more junior staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible as the focal point for all contracting issues for assigned contracts / proposals which may also include contracts at other sites.
  • Responsible for the review/coordination of all assigned proposals and contracts.
  • Demonstrates understanding of functional, business, and broad company objectives.
  • Effectively interfaces with all functions of the business including Manufacturing, Program Management, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, and Legal.
  • Provides alternative solutions to meet client requirements.

 Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of contract formation, practises and regulations.
  • Degree in an applicable discipline or equivalent level of knowledge of experience.
  • Practical involvement in the preparation and negotiation of military or commercial contracts.

 Desired Characteristics:

  • Extensive knowledge of contract formation and regulations.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex contractual issues.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

The role will also involve the compilation of cost estimates for the purpose of determining tender prices and estimates to complete for ongoing programmes, the development and management of sources of data and techniques to support the Estimating process and examination of functional estimates to ensure rigour in their preparation.

You will be educated to University Degree level with experience in an aerospace or automotive company, with a background and training in commercial management . You must also exhibit excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks and have evidence of previous experience in leading the compilation of Commercial estimates. Salary:£55,000 Commensurate with experience.
