Our client is a leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines. This opportunity is ideal for candidates either with strong academic backgrounds (ideally those who have studied NVQ level 3 Business Administration, or work based foundation degrees in for example Business Management and Leadership). Alternatively, its ideal for candidates with experience working within the Supply Chain function ideally within a large organisation, but other experience will be considered.

As Material Planner you would be based within the company`s Supply Chain Department. The Inbound Supply Excellence team is responsible for ensuring externally sourced material is ordered and available in sufficient time to support engine assembly and component machining operations. You would be responsible for managing between 12 and 20 suppliers located globally and ensure material is available on time and in full while ensuring that inventory levels are optimised. Working within a team of 12 Material Planners, these roles control production and inventory activities of selected items, to achieve maximum customer service, minimum inventory investment and efficient material flow.

You will be responsibility for a portfolio of suppliers (of materials / components used as part of the manufacture of the company`s diesel engines); managing and performing supplier scheduling and implementation of engineering changes for the efficient manufacture of products and components. You will ensure the timely delivery of materials to the facility, collaborating with suppliers to coordinate deliveries, shipping schedules and work schedules to meet facility production plans and analyse the material flow on a daily basis to establish priority of material requirements, schedules and orders to suppliers and the factory.
