SST Technical Support Engineer

Our client is a leading independent provider of product engineering, research, testing information and certification to the worldwide automotive industry and is based in Warwickshire.
They currently have an ongoing contract opportunity for a Suspension, Systems and Tuning (SST) Technical Support Engineer.
The SST Technical Support Engineer`s role will be to provide support to both the SST Module Leader and the APC (Architectural Packaging, Chassis) team in the delivery of a suspension system design specification that the Programme can then take forward to delivery and thereby meet the Business product aspirations.
This support will involve target development for the SST area which includes but is not limited to:
- Documenting all of the decisions made within an agreed format with the team.
- Carrying out or leading any benchmark gathering of information.
- Ensuring that the Design elements proposed for development are congruent with the aspirations of the overall project
- Liaising directly with the CAD team to ensure that the Module requirements are fully and comprehensively understood and that Commodity Leaders within the SST Function buy into and agree the benchmark data targets along with confirmation that they are realistic and achievable.
- Develop and maintain an overall project/work stream plan covering the relevant activities.
- Escalating any conflicts or activities incongruent to the project at the earliest opportunity to the wider team and project lead.
- Complete and manage any assigned data sets in a disciplined and controlled manner in the designated shared area.
Role Requirements:
- PMST experience and a background in spring, damper and top mount engineering, with the experience to lead technical design activity to achieve ESO.
- Ability to manage culturally diverse 1st tier suppliers.
- Experienced in managing, and meet the budgetary requirements for both cost and weight for the spring and damper modules.
- Ability to work within a Manufacturing environment and ensure their requirements are met.
- Prepared to travel (possibly to India) to component suppliers as required.
- Ability to carry out appropriate benchmarking to help meet both technical and business requirements.
- Ideally have a good understanding of FMEA`s and the DVP sign-off process.
- Preferably have the advantage of previous JLR system knowledge.
- A good or moderate understanding of a number of project base delivery processes such as FPDS, GPDS, PMP, Prince 2, Ms Project along with a working knowledge of Engineering Release and change control processes (AIMS, WERS, CONCERNS)
- Competent in the use of the MS Office Suite of tools/programmes.
- Experienced in an Engineering discipline
