Our client is a leading independent provider of product engineering, research, testing information and certification to the worldwide automotive industry and is based in Warwickshire.

They are currently seeking to recruit a CAD Designer to lead and contribute to the timely delivery of an exciting new model within the portfolio of new projects.

The CAD Designer role is of significant importance in developing and designing a new braking system in support of our client's requirements which is one the key elements in making the whole programme a success.

The individual will look at existing designs, components and elements with a clear mandate to develop and deliver a robust braking system that will support the vehicles attributes and performance.

In this role success and sometimes failure comes in equal measure and it can be a unique challenge. However it is always very rewarding both personally and professionally.

The successful candidate will need to work very prescriptively within various processes and protocols of the client company whilst drawing upon and utilising their own design skills in order to make this a success.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

* Highly proficient CAD user with 3D visualisation.
* Expertise in Catia V5 and TCe trained with good visualisation and engineering skills.
* Trained or with a good working knowledge of the Smart Team system and process.
* Good visualisation and engineering skills covering specifically braking systems including, foundation brakes (disc and drum), parking brakes (inc drum-in-hat) pedal boxes, booster, hoses and brackets to a number of established standards
* Good understanding of the sub system elements and their interactions (such as chassis, brakes and control systems)
* Good communicator whilst being comfortable working with a number of different teams
* Objective driven with ability to focus on the solutions rather then just the problem
* Working level understanding of Microsoft based systems ( MS office suite etc)
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team
* Understanding of risk management
* Confident in making data driven decisions
* Able to work in a flexible way to support the delivery of the overall objectives

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:

* Good standard of education and learning relevant to the role ideally at Degree level
* Experienced in releasing parts and developing a BOM (Bill of Material) within the virtual series
* Experienced in working with other design teams to ensure integration and package requirements are met.
* Worked and operated within an engineering and/or manufacturing environment within either the automotive or aerospace industries
* Working knowledge of a variety of braking systems (light or heavy)
* Ford or JLR based design processes and protocols
* Working knowledge of OEM and automotive development requirements
* Good communicator with can do attitude
* Supportive team player
* Ability to adapt and change
