Component Test Engineer

The role involves working as part of a small team that review and benchmark all outsource component test activities to ensure Value for Money. The role involves the following:
- Conduct complete analysis of component test activities i.e. quantities, cost.
- Lead/support engineering discussions on component testing requirements.
- Lead/support discussions with internal facility manager/team to ensure internal facilities are fully utilised.
- Lead/support cost discussions with test sites and component suppliers.
- Lead/support strategic discussions regarding component test requirements.
- Deliver all required administration, task management and planning.
Skills Required:
A comprehensive knowledge of Automotive Engineering and Component Rig Testing activities. Good analytic/numerical skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility, self-motivated and a passion for the role. An intermediate knowledge level in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Able to deliver excellent results whilst meeting tight deadlines. A team player. Totally flexible, committed and motivated to deliver in all circumstances especially within a small team environment.
Skills Preferred:
Project management skills. Good Presentation skills. Good organisational and prioritisation skills. Negotiation skills. A clean full driving license.
Experience Required:
Experience of a Component Rig Test Environment is a MUST with a full understanding of functional, performance, climatic, reliability and compliance testing (this would have ideally come from working for a recognised test organisation or previous component engineer roles within the supply chain). Reasonable experience within a Test environment, ideally exposure within the Automotive Industry. Good understanding of automotive components from areas such as Body/Chassis/Powertrain and Electrical. Previous experience of working in a team environment yet able to deliver excellent results with complete autonomy. Experience of working to tight deadlines. Experience in formulating test quotes against DVP requirements. Has demonstrable Excel spreadsheet skills, and is comfortable presenting data at all levels.
Experience Preferred:
Experience of supplier management and negotiation is desirable. Automotive industry experience, preferably within OEM. Experience of our client's systems and processes. Be able to travel both within the UK and abroad.
Education Required:
A relevant Engineering qualification.
Education Preferred:
Degree in a relevant field or subject.
