The Emission Test team is part of Powertrain Test operations and Product Development. The team delivers development and certification test capability to Powertrain Calibration and Certification departments at Whitley and Gaydon. The team"s primary function is to deliver engineering development and certification testing to drive the design and control technology in order to meet required vehicle level targets. The role has been agreed to support the increase in workflow as a result of the success and growth in market reach and the growing product diversity. The team works extensively with a wide range of calibration and certification team members who place high demands in terms of quality and reliability on the test facility output.

The planning and project delivery role is essential in achieving full utilisation of internal capability and in minimising and managing outsource requirements. The job role is:
- To provide deliver and work to a process for managing long and medium term planning and to identify and deliver efficiency projects in order to define and improve internal facility capacity, define future requirements and to achieve 100% data quality at 100% utilisation.
The aim is to ensure that programme requirements can be met with minimum resource.

Skills Required:
An understanding of safe working practices in the associated work place environments. Project planning and management. Practical ability to deliver process maps and value stream maps. Practical ability to define and deliver commissioned projects to a specification. Technical/Theoretical understanding of Emission Test facility and requirements. Data Analysis skills, including ability to define and measure symptoms and analyse information. Ability to make use of data gathered to define solution and implement process improvement. Confidence to take ownership, prioritise and follow up on short term decisions. Very good PC skills, including advanced level of skills in Excel and Visual Basic.

Skills Preferred:
An understanding of internal combustion engines, transmission, driveline, emission systems and subsystems. An understanding of test quality data and analysis, preparation of calibration documentation in support of Certification activities. An understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements of external agencies and organisations.

Experience Required:
Competency to apply safe working practices in the work environment. Project management and delivery. Creation and checking of planning synthetics. Delivery of high level plans, long and medium term. Demonstrate the agility and flexibility required to deliver within tight deadlines. Demonstrate perseverance and ability to complete tasks in difficult circumstances. Having worked in team environment and been a good team player, self-motivated and confident with good communication skills, verbal and written.

Education Required:
Ideally educated to Degree level in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic field or related field. Alternatively HNC, HND, Foundation Degree in related area.

Education Preferred:
Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification. Matlab Minitab. Web based and client application development.

Additional Information:
May be required to support activity at Gaydon.
