Established in 2005 this Centre of Excellence for vehicle and powertrain development is located on a very attractive university campus employing more than 250 Engineering Specialists. The Centre offers talented Automotive Engineers and Managers the opportunity to work on a wide range of passenger car and commercial vehicle projects in a highly professional environment with excellent prospects for career development and progression. Located close to the Warwickshire countryside the Centre is commutable from Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester, Warwick, Stratford, Northampton, Milton Keynes.
An opening now exists for a Designer with a minimum of 3 years Auto industry experience to join the team. The main activities and tasks for this job are:
- Presenting future design concepts to the Senior Management Team using state of the art presentation techniques
- 2-D Sketch development, communicating designs with hand-drawn sketches and digital renderings
- Provide clear direction to designers' clay and digital modellers and fabrication staff to achieve approved design themes
- Show car development including model build and assembly
- Negotiate and liaise with Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers to maintain styling design intention through the development process
- Support Colour and Trim design activities to ensure CandT themes are considered and integrated into the interior design process
- Travel frequently to India and other destinations as required
Candidate requirements:
- Master's Degree or 1st Class, 2.1 Bachelor's Degree in Automotive, Product, or Industrial Design
- A minimum of 3 years automotive Design.
- Must have excellent 2D Digital Presentation skills using Photoshop ideally, (Painter, Sketchbook pro and Illustrator also considered)
- Must have the ability to produce photo real renderings
- Knowledge of 3D software, ICEM, ALIAS, RHINOS an advantage but not essential
- Possess a strong eye for detail, be highly creative
- Demonstrable interest in Product Design, Architecture, graphic design and fashion trends
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate work colleagues
- Experience of communicating developed concepts and themes at Senior Manager level
- Ability to guide physical and numerical 3D teams in the development of your projects
- Have experience of production and show car design projects from initial sketches through all the development stages until the product launch
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- Good logical reasoning
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Exhibit a confident personality and possess excellent communications skills
- Chartered or prepared to work toward it
- Ability to overcome cultural barriers
