- Ability to run Mechanical Press lines, reading quality documents and transferring the information to the production line with best quality parts.
- Ability to run Transfer Press Tooling via ‘De stack’ Line.
- Clear understanding of Standard Operations (Std Ops)
- Clear understanding of SMED / OEE / Kaizen
- Capable of assuring quality checks and documentation completion is of the highest standard.
- Capable of using inspection equipment, taper gauge, callipers, micrometers and height gauges.
- Capable of assuring 100% end of line quality and inspection with full understanding about Part Accuracy and correct labelling of stillages.
- Capable of understanding change control systems (CP Systems), standard operation/s and able to identify then escalate problems to line manager immediately.
- Ability to work under pressure in-order to meet tight demands both as an individual and within a team.
You will have a ‘can do’ attitude, show willingness to learn new skills and will be able to use your own initiative.
In the role as a Press Leader you will be expected to:
- Lead a small team of operators in order to achieve set targets using your previous practical and delegation skills.
- Maintain a high level of Safety compliance at all times in the Genba, you will be expected to promote safe working practices when failings occur.
- Lead your Team in-order to achieve Quality awareness and adherence to quality standard operations / targets.
- Perform internal / external changeovers in line with standard operations (Std Ops).
- Maintain Press plan adherence, completion of paperwork and implementation OF ‘Containment Procedure’.
- Operate specific machinery which you are trained on, including carrying our internal and external changeovers / Die preparation, changeover, breakdown assistance and feedback to Shift Team Leader as necessary.
- Maintain a high level of quality checking and fault finding within your working area/s, including ensuring that ‘1st / Mid / Last offs’ are carried out correctly in all circumstances.
- Provide absence cover in the Stamping department where you may be requested to cover on other machinery which you are suitably and adequately trained.
- Carry out daily structured 5’s activity.
- Assist with the training of new starters and also the ‘up-skilling’ and development of associates within the Stamping department when requested.
- Ensuring you and your team fully comply with company policies and procedures at all times.
- Learn and understand the company Quality Management system (IDEF) to assist you in supporting your team’s activities with process and documentation control.
- You will promote the participation of your team in Kaizen / Quality circle activities.
- Carry out duties in line with your role as a Press Leader with regards to carrying out performance / attendance / people management.
