Design Project Leader

Our client is the most diversified automotive supplier in the world, responsible for the design, development and manufacture of automotive systems, assemblies, modules and components.

They are currently seeking to recruit a Design Project Leader on a contract or permanent basis. Reporting to the Design Manager, the individual will be responsible for the following:

* Key interface with the customers engineering and design department.
* Discussing early design concepts and developing these into designs for manufactured products
* Ensuring the product meets customer aspirations as well as compliment capability and process
* Managing a team of Design Engineers and Interfacing with other disciplines within the company (e.g., manufacturing, validation and purchasing)
* Reviewing design concepts to ensure full feasibility and sign off
* Organising and running Design Reviews with a cross functional team and maintain the project open issues list
* Creating supporting documentation for all concepts to enable calculated cost and approval
* Maintaining records of design change requests and internal changes for cost improvement
* Creating, managing and controlling design and testing budgets
* Leading the transition from concept to series design within the manufacturers programme management team.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Qualifications in Design Engineering
* Experience in working at OEM or Tier 1 level in a lead design capacity with a proven record for delivering successfully to targets
* Knowledge of multiple manufacturing processes and procedures
* Ability to display that they are an organised and diligent record keeper
* Have design and product evaluation experience, on functionality, quality and cost basis (DFMEA, DVP, programme gateway management)
* Hold experience in customer engineering specifications for interior and exterior commodities
* CATIA V5 skills would be desirable but not essential for the right candidate

***This role is based primarily in Warwick but travel is a necessity and thus the requirement for a valid UK driving license***
