We seek a Staff Accountant for an initial 6-month contract based in Stafford.

THE COMPANY:

Perkins Engines is part of the UK Caterpillar Group located in Stafford. They specialise in diesel engines for the power generation market. This includes the 2300, 2800 and 2400 series platforms that span from 14 to 61 litre capacities.

THE ROLE:

As Staff Accountant, you will analyse financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities within the organisation.

Major job duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare, examine or analyse accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Develop, maintain and analyse budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Develop, implement, modify and document record-keeping and accounting systems.
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements

THE PERSON:

Applicants are required to have a university degree in accounting or related financial discipline required and previous financial and/or accounting experience required.

In addition, you are required to have the following skills and competencies:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and critical thinking.
- Ability to work independently and manage ones time.
- Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
- Ability to analyse business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
- Knowledge of European and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and any other related accounting software.

This is a contracting position with a pay rate up to £22.00/hr Ltd
