Facility Project Engineer

Facility Project Engineer responsible for the deliver of Powertrain Facility upgrade and replacement projects. The role will report to the facility Consolidation Manager and take direct responsibility for delivery discrete small project up to £500k value. The role will also provide support activities to a team delivering a major Powertrain Engineering Test Facility upgrade project. The role will be required to interface with both the Test Operations Delivery Groups and Facility Customers to determine Testing Requirements Capabilities over the next 5 -10 years. This information will then be utilised to generate facility specifications and RFQ"s. The role will also require interface with external suppliers to evaluate proposals and make recommendation for order placement. Once orders are placed the role will require interface and management of the selected supplier(s) to ensure robust project delivery.
Skills Required:
A background in a Facility Engineering/Planning/Delivery role preferably in the Powertrain Engineering Environment. Experience/skills as a Project Engineer including Supplier Management, Budget Control and Programme Delivery. Self motivated and capable of working to meet deadlines with minimum supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role will require the ability to quickly build relationships and credibility within both Powertrain and the supplier chain. Experience of writing detailed functional specifications ideally in a facility or mechanical services environment. Excellent IT skills include competence in the use of the full range of MS Office and MS Project applications.
Experience Required:
Previous experience as a Facility Project Engineer preferably in the Automotive Environment.
Experience Preferred:
Experience in the use of CAD systems, ideally AutoCAD.
Education Required:
Degree qualified in a Mechanical/Engineering Discipline. Candidates who do not meet this criterion, but have high level of related experience will be considered.
Additional Information:
Based at the Whitley site, but may require some work at Gaydon.
