Our Yorkshire-based client is a global designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic and electromechanical (mechatronic) products for the automotive industry including control units, sensors, monitors and motors
Main Duties
Ensure that all customer enquiries and any open issues are handled quickly and efficiently. Clear communication both with the external customer, as well as within the organisation will be the key aspect of this role.
Job description
-Develop working relationships across the defined customer contacts team with particular emphasis in the Engineering areas
-Provide customer information and answers to questions by obtaining the necessary cross functional information from within the company
-Responsible for using all Sales and Marketing procedures and documentation approved by the company to meet customers' needs
-Maintain all commercial project files and documentation in line with the company Integrated Management System to a TS16949 auditable standard -
-Participate in customer visits, meetings and phone conferences in agreement with the relevant international sales centres and the Sales Account Manager
Key skills and experience
-Candidates should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or Business discipline
-Working Knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical product design and plastic moulding technology.
-Working knowledge of personal computers and use of Microsoft Office and of SAP
-Previous experience from the automotive industry, with broad knowledge of automotive sector or similar fast paced manufacturing industry
-Ability to work as part of a team and work with minimum supervision whilst meeting deadline commitments

ReplyDeleteSales engineers also collaborate with the design, production, engineering, or R&D departments of their companies to determine how products and services could be made or modified to suit customers' needs. This aspect of sales engineering is important, because it is what allows the sales engineer to feel that they can maintain their personal integrity (ethically speaking) in the face of the inherent COI of the job (explained earlier). The sales engineer does not have to lie (ignore or negatively misrepresent the competitor's products or services) if they can reasonably tell the customer that their employer can tailor its solutions to the customer's particular requirements. Doing that may not be easy or cheap, which means that there is always a line to be walked to avoid overpromising-and/or-underdelivering.
In general, the more sophisticated – and better paid - sales engineers are closely aligned with specific clients and sales people. They are capable of performing a well synchronized dance with sales people in asking the right questions at the right time, and deliver the right messaging without sharing too much information or providing free consultation.
