Assistant Quality Manager

Location - West Midlands

Salary - £35,000 to £40,000 pa

Role
- To control and ensure product quality leaving the facility.
- To develop the product, and identify continuous improvement initiatives with the other departments.
- To be the interface with the customer and present the improvement plans using a PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) approach.

Key responsibilities

Safety and Environment
- Take an active role in managing full health and safety awareness across the team and department dealing with all concerns.
- Confirm PPE requirements are understood and maintained.

Quality
- Understand and be able to communicate the QUALITY FIRST philosophy in your work, promoting the same across your team and department overall.
- Disseminate all quality standards across the team and organisation.
- Achievement of right first time quality across the company.
- Introduce quality control systems to support processes across the company.
- Containment activity is in place when necessary, support, training and guidance is provided across all departments.
- Learn, understand and manage the company Quality Management system.

Management
- Day to day control of the department in absence of QM.
- Support for 'New Model' development and introduction.
- Support for departments on complex concerns and downtime reduction.
- Monthly destruction testing to ensure the weld integrity of complete components.
- Regular reviews with the customer to develop relationships
- Introduce quality control systems and accreditation to support processes.

Person Specification

- Engineering Qualification
- Strong leadership skills to support the Quality Manager.
- Determination and drive to ensure Quality is maintained.
- Previous experience in the role of either Quality Engineer, Senior Quality Engineer, or, Assistant Quality Manager, ideally in the motor industry.
- BIW, Press, Spot weld integrity and welded knowledge. (Advantageous)
- Manufacturing experience and knowledge of high volume production.
- System based knowledge in ISO 9000:2000, 14001 and TS16949.
