PCB Electronics Package Engineer - Defence - Hertfordshire

Our client is seeking a PCB electronic packaging engineer to work in collaboration with mechanical and electronic designers taking into account the PCB layout group, fabricators and manufactures to develop optimised packaging solutions for complex electronic assemblies. Located in Hertfordshire, with a world leader in missiles and missile systems.
Skills and Knowledge

*Environmental considerations (vibration, temperature, humidity, altitude, etc)
*Mechanical design considerations (mounting, chassis, materials, mass, etc)
*Board technology selection (rigid, flex-rigid, flexible, ceramic, etc)
*Interconnect selection (flexi-rigid, flexible circuits, sculptured, cable, etc)
*PCB construction and layer definitions
*High Speed / Signal Integrity design constraints
*Board manufacturing and assembly techniques and processes
*PCB fabricators/procurement liaison and support
*Designing for Produce ability, Testability, Rework/Repair, Environment, Reliability
Component Level
*Awareness of component packaging technologies (construction, assembly), materials (characteristics, selection), COTS, PEDs, connector types, etc

Tools
*Experience of working with Mentor (legacy) and/or preferably Zuken CR5000 (current tool) for schematic entry, board outline and placement
*Capability to perform thermal and mechanical modeling
