An Electrical Systems Research Engineer is required to work on contract for our client who specialise in luxury cars, the position will be based in the West Midlands.
Electrical systems research engineer responsible for delivery of an exhaust energy harvesting device, and the coordination of the interface for an alternative energy harvesting device, being developed by a supplier. The Engineer will be responsible for electrical content and modelling of the OEM device, ensuring a common vehicle interface with the second device. Powertrain Research support Environmental Innovation strategy by ensuring that all future diesel, gasoline and hybrid powertrains meet legislative tailpipe emissions requirements, including carbon reduction objectives. The successful applicant will join a collaborative team in a large externally funded 3 year development project with multiple external partners, looking at whole powertrain thermal management and optimization.
Skills Required:
Highly motivated with excellent team working skills and able to deliver with minimum supervision. Good understanding of electrical engineering operating principles including modelling, control, design and specification for electrical architectures. Ability to screen new technologies and innovatively apply them to automotive powertrain applications.
Skills Preferred:
Ability to define virtual performance assessments for powertrain electrical and thermal systems, and conduct simple analysis exercises.
Experience Required:
Experience of the specification and design of automotive electrical systems. Experience in simulation/modelling of electrical systems. Experience in the control and diagnostics of electrical systems and programming of electrical controllers.
Experience Preferred:
Experience of MATLAB/SIMULINK. Experimental electrical characterisation of automotive electrical hardware. Experience of product/technology development processes to ensure robust implementation through to production. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary organisation with interaction across many departments.
Education Required:
Educated to degree level, in a relevant field or subject
Education Preferred:
Educated to higher degree level, in a relevant field or subject.
Additional Information:
A full UK driving licence is preferred, as some flexibility working at both Whitley and Gaydon sites may be required.
