An automotive Power Electronics Development Engineer is required to work on contract for our client who specialise in luxury cars, the position will be based in the West Midlands.

Design and develop specifications for High Voltage Power Electronics components (Power Inverter, DCDC Converter, and Battery Charger) for the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) project. Work with vehicle programs and Tier 1 suppliers to apply chosen technologies into production vehicle programmes.

Technical Project leadership of all aspects of application, from component/supplier selection, electrical and software integration, design requirements management, test authorship and DV/PV test execution, full engineering sign-off and manufacturing launch. Assist with test rig design, build and test execution.

Skills Required:
Must have a working knowledge and experience of developing Power Electronics. Knowledge of power stage construction and potential failure modes. Knowledge of challenges associated with integrating component designs into mass vehicle production systems. Project management and planning skills are also required, along with good teamwork and communication skills.

Skills Preferred:
Previous experience of supplier management is desired. Working knowledge of 8D processes, FMEA and robustness, PCS process knowledge etc.

Experience Required:
Previous experience in an automotive OEM or major component supplier.

Experience Preferred:
Design experience of power electronics/inverters application to Hybrid vehicles desired, but not essential. 

Education Required:
Educated to degree level, in a relevant field or subject.
