Based on a very attractive University campus, this Centre of Excellence is building on its growing reputation for Electric Vehicle (EV) development. It has plans to expand it operation and increase the number of talented Engineers and Specialists it employs, working on new projects incorporating cutting edge technologies. This has created an opportunity for a BIW Closures Engineer to join the team as a member of permanent staff or as a hourly paid Consultant. This role based in Coventry commutable from Birmingham, Warwick, Leicester, Gaydon, Milton Keynes, Leamington, Northampton.
In this Principal Engineer role you will lead the development of BIW for a new vehicle variant from clay model feasibility to Concept release. Main aspects of the role will include:

• Leading the concept layout for bonnet, side doors and tailgate, material selection, packaging and exterior surface development, DFMEA`s and DVP`s.
• Manage cross-functional design reviews to solve critical project issues.
• Delivery will be achieved by leading a multi-functional team that will include staff, contractors and supplier resource.
• Interface with the customer to ensure the project milestones and gateways are met and delivered.
• Generate internal project timing and resource plans.
• Initial project is UK based for a significant period.
  Candidate details:
• Degree, HND or HNC Engineering qualification.
• Ideally possessing more than 10 years Auto industry experience in BIW, leading teams of Engineers.
• Capable of managing complex projects and providing leadership to a project team of significant size.
