Client Information
Our Yorkshire-based client is a global Tier 2 designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic and electromechanical products for the automotive industry including control units, sensors, monitors and motors

Main Duties

The main responsibilities of the role are to ensure that the quality of software developed within the Company fulfils customer expectations and the requirements of relevant internal and external Standards
The job requires team working with many other departments within the company, locally and internationally, and with various departments at customers. There will be some international travel involved in the role

Job description
-Ensure that the Company's software development process is followed, and the work products are of high quality by:
-Promotion of the Company's software development process and of 'best practice'.
-Planning and execution of internal and external audits of the development process.
-Planning of, and acting as moderator of, walkthroughs and reviews of software project work products.
-Providing assistance to design engineers in the software project set-up and planning.
-Monitoring the progress of software projects to ensure that the work products are delivered in the correct sequence.
-Escalation to higher management where necessary of failures to comply with the process or failure to produce work of high quality.
-To assist in the validation of software by: writing comprehensive software test plans and performing thorough software testing.

Key skills and experience
-Candidates should be educated to Degree level or above in Software Engineer, or relevant experience
-Experience of writing software in 'C'. Knowledge of good practice in the use of 'C'.
-Knowledge of best-practice software development process methods and standards (e.g. Spice/ISO15504).
-Knowledge of CASE tools.
-Software review techniques.
-Experience of electronics design work using microcontrollers.
