Our client is a leading producer of large and small jet engines for commercial and military aircraft throughout the world. They are currently looking to recruit a Weights Engineer on a six-month contract in Southampton.
The Weights Engineer will be responsible for the timely and accurate estimation and preparation of all mass properties estimates and reports on the A350 XWB 2000 program. They will be tasked with coordinating and quality checking weight estimates conducted by second tier suppliers and providing expert advisory services to customers on all weight-related issues.
Full accountabilities include the timely and accurate preparation of mass properties reports for all programs, the supervision of a small staff of Weight Engineers and the checking of all mass properties estimates developed by the staff and additional sub-contractors, data management of changes to mass properties estimates by logging both incorporated and pending changes to the working database, active monitoring of the aircraft design and production for weight control practices, and the preparation and presentation of alternative design and build materials.
Candidates must be educated to Degree level in either Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering, previous experience working as a Weight Engineer and have a strong working knowledge of CATIA V5 mass analysis.
