Supplier Quality Engineer

£200 - 270 per day
Our client is a high precision, low volume, machining company with links to motor racing powertrain.
They are currently seeking to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer until December 2012.
Reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager, the individual will be responsible for:
* Working with Internal Departments and External Suppliers to assure component conformance to drawing, specifications and requirements.
* Lead component and assembly quality improvement activity through clear data analysis, presentation and coordination.
* Problem definition, containment, corrective action.
* Meet with suppliers on site or at supplier premises to support supplier selection, development and corrective action.
* Work with suppliers as part of New Product Introduction process to ensure processes are in place to guarantee acceptable product quality.
* Champion process improvements through use of proactive quality tools for supplier components and assemblies.
* Manage non-conformance, including review of concessions raised.
* Support Quality department in achieving its Mission Statement, Objectives and Annual Goals.
* Provide support to the Quality Manager by completing any reasonable task
* Provide cover for other Supplier/Quality Engineers at times of absence.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Honours Degree in Engineering subject or Time Served Apprentice with equivalent experience.
* Practical experience in Automotive, Motorsport, Aerospace or other similar complex and high quality/tight specification product in a demanding environment.
* Education and specialism in Mechanical/ Machining, Electronics or Composite Manufacturing.
* Proven track record in New Product Introductions and Problem Solving.
* Good communication skills, able to represent the company with external suppliers.
* Able to work independently
* Experience of Conflict and Crisis Management.
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES:
* Auditor qualification, experience in Purchasing and / or Design function.
* Continuous Improvement experience, Six Sigma Training
* Track record of working with and improving suppliers.
* Member or Associate Member of Chartered Quality Institute or Chartered Engineer.
* Good presentation skills
