Interior Trim Principal Engineer

Based on a very attractive University campus in Coventry (commutable from Northampton, Daventry, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Leicester, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Birmingham, Redditch, Worcester, Crew and Oxford) , this Centre of Excellence in the development of electric vehicles (EV) has an opportunity for a talented Trim / Seating Design Engineer to join the Management team.
- Lead the development of Interior Trim (Cabin and Seating) on new concept vehicle variants. This will include styling / concept work, benchmarking, 3D design, DFMEA and DVP development
- Interface with suppliers, costing, tracking and evaluation of design proposals
- Interface with the customer to ensure the project milestones and gateways are met and delivered
- Interface with other functions such as BIW, Restraints, Electrical, NVH to ensure a robust fit for purpose design
- Interface with other Programme Team members such as Purchase and Finance
- Support and attend required Programme meetings
- Manage cross-functional design reviews to solve critical project issues
- Travel overseas on a regular basis, frequency tba
Candidate core requirements include: - Degree or similar qualification
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- A minimum of 5 years industry experience in Body, Trim or Seating Engineering
- Already Chartered or working towards it
- Possess the ability to inspire a team to strive for improvements and high customer service
- Evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of a team
- Able to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
- Capable of managing a group of Engineers and give support to the Lead Engineer in the delivery of the performance objectives of their group
- Have the ability to overcome cultural barriers
