The company is a leading international development partner to the automobile and engine industry. They are currently undergoing a period of increasing growth and are looking to hire a Production Engineer (Assembly) who will engineer and administer the process and equipment required for assembly activities and will work within a cross functional team responsible for new product introduction, from concept to production

  • Evaluate existing assembly systems with a view to the justification of change and improvement
  • Evaluate potential cost reduction programs in new and existing products
  • Design, specify and acquire, tooling, equipment and machinery, to ensure that robust capable processes are established
  • Evaluate and purchase production in-process gauging requirements
  • Work in a VDA 6.3, Q1, TQM, BS5750 and QS9000 environment, upholding the ethics of these quality standards
  • Assess product cell overall equipment effectiveness and improve machine/equipment availability
  • Maintain and develop Process Documentation i.e. Process Sheets, FMEA, Process Flow and APQP
  • Ensure existing processes are maintained and updated when necessary
  • Optimise and improve processes working in conjunction with Continuous Improvement activities
  • Resolve daily manufacturing issues and concerns including containment and care points
  • Ensure Machinery and equipment are maintained and available to assembly
  • Repair and rework schemes for products including containment actions and concessions
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary

    Qualifications
  • A Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Production Engineering is essential

    Experience
  • Previous experience gained within low volume high added value machining and assembly processes, preferably gained within an automotive environment

    Skills
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and autocad
  • German language skills would be an advantage
  • Other European language skills would be an advantage
