An In-vehicle Networks Design and Test Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in the West Midlands.

Position Description:
In-vehicle Networks Design and Test Engineer. The Networks Delivery Team is responsible for the design, development and sign off of data busses including CAN, LIN, MOST, and the software kernels and hardware needed to support them. The team is also responsible for defining and maintaining Central Car Configuration mechanism, parameters, and ruleset.
Candidate’s primary duties would include:
•Responsibility for design of vehicle CAN and LIN network signalling in VNA
•Cascading networks standards
•Planning and running the Networks DVP, including circuit reviews and practical labcar testing
•Supporting hardware and software review activities
•Driving issue resolution within all stated areas
Job Requirements
Secondary duties could include:
• Responsibility for maintaining MOST FCAT releases utilising Veronica tool, and CCF parameter and ruleset generation
Skills Required:
Candidates shall be able to demonstrate a good understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, MOST), and network design requirements. Shall have an understanding of hardware and software design, and Electrical Integration concepts such as diagnostics and SWDL. Shall have excellent negotiation skills, ability to build relationships with other departments and suppliers, project management and communication skills, be self motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision. Understanding of the whole vehicle electrical system and the relationships between different features and functions. Ability to use CAN, LIN and MOST network analysis tools including CANalyser. Use of diagnostic tools and software download tools including ASL. Use of oscilloscopes and electrical test equipment.
Skills Preferred:
Previous formal in-vehicle networks training.
Details
Experience Required:
Essential experience includes design, integration and debug of complex functions spanning multiple ECUs, CAN & LIN network design or validation, and the use of CAN & LIN development tools.
Experience Preferred:
Use of eTracker, AIMS, eFDVS, and VNA. Prior experience of OEM vehicle CAN, LIN or MOST networks. Previous experience in a vehicle networks design role.

Additional Information:
The Networks team are scheduled to move to Gaydon during 2012 - exact date currently unknown.
