Product Development Technician
Sittingbourne, Kent, England

Our client is looking for a Product Development Technician to work in their Technical Department.



The role involves developing the current product range in terms of cost efficiency and quality, as well as the innovation and development of new ideas.
Purpose:

To develop, improve and broaden our client`s product range.

To devise innovative new products, formulations and drywall building systems and components.

To coordinate and supervise performance testing of our client`s systems.



Key Outputs:

Assist in the development of innovative gypsum and non-gypsum products and related systems.

Assist in the development and testing of products and drywall product systems (acoustics/fire and structural) in order to compete with companies in a similar line of business. (This may require assisting in test rig build programme).

Coordinate and supervise performance testing of our client`s systems.

Assist in the introduction of products from other companies world-wide into the UK market.

Develop existing products and product systems in order to optimise both quality and performance characteristics.

Develop existing products and drywall systems in order to optimise raw material and formulation costs, whilst ensuring a consistent level of quality and performance.

Investigate the cause of customer complaints in order to safeguard customer loyalty, and reduce costs.
Skills/Knowledge:

Degree level (or equivalent) education in a building, science or engineering related field.

Ability to consider blue sky solutions, coupled with structured problem evaluation and problem solving skills.

Computer literate with working knowledge Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Have a working knowledge of the internet.

Ability to work well as part of a cross departmental team or on own initiative.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Be Health and Safety conscious.

Have the ability to manage own time effectively, and prioritise work accordingly.

Knowledge of plasterboard systems installation and plaster formulations an advantage.
