Lead BIW & Closures Engineer - BT193

Based on a very attractive University campus in Coventry (commutable from Northampton, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Birmingham, Redditch, Worcester, Crewe, Banbury), this Centre of Excellence in the development of electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid and conventional powertrains has been established since 2005. Further growth and demand for its expertise has created an opportunity for a talented BIW and Closures Lead Engineer to join the team. This job will also appeal to candidates based in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Japan, USA and China.
As part of the Management team this role reports into the Group Chief Engineer for Body Engineering and has the following main activities and tasks.

• Develop proposals of work with the parent company in India
• Develop proposals of work based on Requests For Quotations from 3rd Party customers
• Manage all projects, resource, budgets and activities carried out by the BIW / Closures team
• Carry out appraisals of team members
• Carry out recruitment
• Support project and senior management reviews
• Regular travel, up to one week per month to India will be a requirement for this role
  Candidate core requirements will include the following:
• Degree qualification
• Strong numeracy and literacy
• Good logical reasoning
• Able to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
• Ability to overcome cultural barriers
• Management experience of groups of Engineers and or be an acknowledged industry expert in BIW and Closures
• A minimum of 10 years industry experience
• Understands roles and needs of different client groups, evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results
• Ensures procedures and quality standards are clearly communicated and actioned
• Takes responsibility for process improvement and communicates this to staff at all levels
• Capable of managing complex projects and providing leadership to a project team of significant size
• Capable of defining, developing and managing a project autonomously with minimal need for support from a Chief Engineer
• Likely to a Chartered Engineer or working towards this
