Machine Tool Maintenance Technician

The company is a leading international development partner to the automobile and engine industry. They are currently undergoing a period of increasing growth and are looking to hire additional Machine Tool Maintenance Technicianswho will be part of the team responsible for the safe maintenance, servicing, installation and operation of all plant, machinery and equipment on site, working within the framework of current company procedure's, legislation, HSE requirements and engineering principles. In addition, undertake various project work as required.

  • Ensure all plant, machinery and ancillary equipment is effectively maintained.
  • Carry out systematic fault finding on all plant machinery and ancillary equipment.
  • Undertake machine servicing as required to implement the planned preventative maintenance program on all machines.
  • Promote and implement improvements into the engineering of the plant and to maximise energy efficiencies.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are followed to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained.
  • Provide callout maintenance breakdown cover out of normal working hours
  • Complete appropriate work reports to include the entering of such onto the company work report database
  • Contribute to and comply with company procedures and work within the framework of the law, particularly relating to Health and Safety and Environmental matters.
  • Liaise with the health and safety advisor to ensure that safe working practices are adopted at all times, and to maintain the appropriate data files for all installed plan, machinery and equipment.
  • To take responsibility for contractors when working on site
  • Any duties deemed appropriate by the department manager

    Qualifications
  • An ONC/HNC in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, is essential
  • A Craft Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical, or equivalent City and Guilds qualification is essential
  • 17th Edition certification is desireable
  • 236 City and Guilds or equivalent is essential
  • 2391 City and Guilds Electrical Inspection Testing is essential

    Skills and Experience
  • Previous machine tool fault diagnosis and repair essential
  • CNC machine tool fault diagnosis and repair is essential
  • Previous experience working with Heller, Hitachi Seiki and Matsurra machines is desireable
  • Previous production environment experience desirable
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on own initiative
  • Ability to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion working within the time constraints of a busy production environment
  • Basic computer literacy using MS Office packages
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Basic electrical circuit knowledge required
  • Knowledge of CNC Machine control systems including machine diagnostics, ladder programs/ PLC programs
