Quality Engineer - Assembly Operations

£25k - 31k per year + Excellent + benefits
The company is a leading international development partner to the automobile and engine industry. They are going through a period of major growth and are looking to hire an additional Quality Engineer - Assembly Operations initially on a 12 month contract.
The role will have a hands on approach ensuring that all aspects of Quality Control are satisfactorily co-ordinated and carried out in the Engine Assembly and test areas. This includes motivating and managing the staff, together with providing adequate training.
- Liaise with customers to ensure that corrective action is implemented on all concerns raised and to assist with the smooth introduction of new product lines
- Liaise with assembly and production engineering teams to ensure that specification determined by engineering is consistently achieved
- Investigation of assembly/quality problems and liaison with assembly supervisor, production engineering and supplier quality engineers
- Supervise Quality auditors to ensure that adequate procedures are carried out
- Production of periodic data showing the quality performance of the assembly department to include customer complaints and/or returns, audit power test and teardown results
- Specify in conjunction with Production Engineering any detailed operator checks, or over-checks to be included in the process data/instructions
- Ensure the maintenance and continuous improvement of procedures and documentation to include SPC and process FMEA s
- To ensure that the various tool for the never ending improvement of product quality such as the eight discipline approach and other problem solving techniques, are used at every opportunity
- Other duties as necessary
Qualifications - A Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline is essential
- This role will require the successful candidate to be a fluent German speaker
- Quality Auditing (Lead Assessor) qualification is desirable although training can be provided to otherwise suitable candidates
- Currently studying or have achieved Institute of Quality Assurance membership examinations
Experience - Experience of dealing with German customers and suppliers is essential
- A minimum of 3 years experience gained within a similar role within an automotive environment is essential covering Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) and Quality Auditing (QA)
- Experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is desirable although training can be provided to otherwise suitable candidates
Skills - Computer Literate in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
- MS Access skills are desirable though not essential
