The company, a major employer of engineering skills in the North West, exports a large percentage of its production to European Community Markets. The business`s future success and development is dependent upon the application of leading-edge information technology in all aspects of design, manufacture, procurement and logistics.
Reporting to the Engineering Accountant your main role will be to determine the financial consequences of product innovation, quantifying the impact of decisions and investments on product cost.
This will include determing the target cost price of components and systems during the development process and Initiation of actions to meet the cost price targets.
Needing to establish the related investment for specific tooling and equipment at suppliers and within our facilities, including
Analysing supplier quotes.
Establish cost estimates of production processes and execute feasibility studies for alternative production methods, as well as
Participating in multifunctional teams and supporting the decision making process by offering adequate cost information regarding process choices and assist in purchasing negotiations.
The role will work in close cooperation with Product Development, Purchasing, Product Planning and Production Engineering throughout the organisation.
This role is commutable from Preston,Blackburn, Blackpool, Liverpool and Manchester
Education/skills and experience:
Education to degree level essential in mechanical engineering, automotive engineer or comparable.
Relevant experience required.
Knowledge of different manufacturing process common in automotive and truck industry.
Six Sigma trained
Excellent IT skills
Able to make reliable estimates of cost consequences based on limited technical information
Automotive Experience
Prior experience in pressings and fabrication.
