The company currently supplies electronic systems to the aerospace industry for both civil and defence applications. There is scope for working on a variety of projects and products and the constantly changing approach to systems and procedures in house means that engineers have a real opportunity to help shape the organisation.

This role is based in Gloucestershire, close to the M5 and is commutable from Worcester, Gloucester, Swindon, Tewkesbury and Oxford.

The Sub-Section Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organisation, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You will be responsible for performance management, resourcing and staffing across programmes, pay and rations for the team, recruitment etc. You will be the first point of escalation for technical issues and whilst not responsible for solving these in a hands-on manner, must have a strong enough technical understanding to plan a route to resolution.

Ideal candidates should demonstrate the following:

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree from an accredited university/college or equivalent level of knowledge or experience
- Direct line management and/or programme/project leadership within an engineering environment

Desired Characteristics:
- Software team management/organization experience
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to guide and influence others
- Background as a Software Leader or Manager within an engineering organisation (aerospace, automotive, medical, comms)
- Understanding of engineering software (embedded, C, DO178B)
- Structured approach and understanding of robust software development cycles
- Dynamic
- Strong Leadership Skills
