A Chassis Component & System Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Position Description:
As a Component and System Engineer you will need the skills and experience to deliver a range of components or systems into production. You'll benchmark competitors, products, complete the Engineering specifications for chassis commodities and deliver the Engineering Design & Development of them through the GPDS process, supporting DV/PV, attribute targets including cost/weight using the OEM systems of eFDVS, AIMS, WERS etc. Leading design activities as PMST Leader, managing suppliers and planning for successful completion.
Job Requirements
Responsibility will be for one of the following areas: Steering Systems, Wheels, Tyres & Jacks, Suspension Systems & Architectures, Chassis Frames and Sub Frames, Springs (Coil & Air), Dampers & Anti Roll Bar systems (Passive & Active), Braking & Stability Control Systems (ABS, TCS etc), Chassis Systems Packaging and Integration, Chassis Structural and Dynamic CAE Analysis. This is a highly involved, hands-on role. Working across our client’s products, on a range of vehicles with very different characteristics.
Skills Required:
Technical competence in a relevant area of Chassis Design and Development. Quality tool application. Interfacing skills. Project management. Excellent communication skills.
Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of suspension component design. Previous OEM, Chassis/Suspension design experience preferable.
Details
Experience Required:
Proven experience in the design and development of Chassis Components. Experience of managing the productionisation of these components with suppliers. The ability to understand and deal with the results from test and development testing including FE analysis. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. Good presentation and communication skills. Project management and co-ordination skills. Robust practical knowledge of engineering principles is essential.
Experience Preferred:
The ability to use Catia V5 to produce and manipulate CAD models and drawings, though it must be stressed that this is not primarily a CAD role.
Education Required:
Engineering Degree or equivalent.
