A new ongoing contract opportunity has arisen for a Control Software Modelling and Validation Engineer in the Peterborough area.

Working as part of an Engine Controls Team, the individual will be responsible for the development of engine control strategies for engines developed. This involves requirements capture, control strategy development, model based software development and software verification and validation.

The team also works on key engine projects to meet global emissions regulations using new engine and after treatment technology. This includes machine, industrial and marine applications from 56kW to 16MW.

The individual will be responsible for the following:

- Plan and execute verification and validation testing for electronics/control system software either on a test bench / HiL tester and/or on engine or development machines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electronics/control system issues encountered during build and test of engines in development labs and on machine operation. Interface between user areas and electronics system development engineers to implement solutions to affected users.
- Conduct control system tuning/calibration activities on test bench or on engine/machine to achieve desired system response.
- Create sub-system software models from specifications using Matlab and Simulink.


Essential:

- Degree in Software, Electronics/Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- Able to use Matlab and Simulink for model based software development to create embedded software.
- Able to use electronic system calibration tools e.g. Vector CANape to record data and alter controller parameters.
- Experience of using HiL testers for validation testing.

Desirable:

- Experience of dSPACE HiL testers and ability to programme automated tests and reporting.
- Understanding of engine control related aspects of engine subsystems ( fuel, boost, after treatment)
- Understanding of engine dynamometer test processes.
