An Engine Development Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Dagenham, Essex.

Description
Position Description:
Lead development of Engine Engineering lifetime resource estimations for Global engine development programs to support the Global Process. Monitor and control the calendarisation of engine program annual resources for each program at respective milestones while maintaining lifetime targets. Update program budget estimations in line with the latest design assumptions and track changes at each gateway. Prepare budget calendarisation roadmaps to achieve program delivery within the budget targets for respective calendar years throughout the program lifetime. Lead cross-program peer reviews with engine & planning teams for content alignment on new programs & added starters.

Job Requirements
Act as single point of contact for Engine Program teams, Engineers, Finance, Business Office and Planning teams to track changes in technical content & financial direction. Lead budget/assumptions reviews across the key stakeholders, i.e. Program Managers, Planning, Finance & Business Teams. Issue monthly status and ad-hoc reports as required, highlighting performance versus plan. Analyse monthly actuals vs. resource estimations/budget allocations, highlighting inconsistencies and recommending improvements. Develop a mechanism/process for budget allocation down to engine subsystem level for deployment across the respective Engine Engineering teams. Align the global resource tool to reflect the true work content for respective subsystems & functional areas.

Details
Skills Required:
An understanding of OEM business systems and processes including GPDS, EFX, BOPS, GPIRS, GRM, Essbase. Good understanding of engine component, sub-system & program budget management. Good IT skills including use of Advanced Excel Modelling, MS-Office, WebEx, SharePoint etc. Good communication / presentation skills. Team player & ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation. Logical, process oriented, analytical & high attention to detail. Proven ability to identify gaps in existing processes and suggest improvements. Ability to explain & present complex processes, issues and concepts. Exceptional data management ability. Ability to adapt to the use of different software systems to access information for analysis.

Experience Required:
Proven experience in development of Program Lifetime budget estimations in automobile industry. Proven record in process-building/continuous improvement to manage complex and large business issues.

Education Required:
Engineering degree (Mechanical / Automotive). A business qualification would be an advantage.
