The Facility Planner is responsible for the project planning, installation and optimisation of assembly hardware and related logistics hardware systems to agreed cost and deadline targets. This covers the feasibility, specification, supplier selection, cost, quality, ergonomics, environment and availability of the technical solutions. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining and optimising the facility when in operation; and supporting the planner in specification development and installation of new facilities. All activities must be carried out using core VPS principles
The role requires the planner to project manage new and modified facilities to be integrated into the production system. The maintenance engineer is responsible for the optimisation and innovation of the existing systems.
The planner must develop the technical concept and specify the solutions to allow suppliers to quote for the work. The budgets must be agreed and then the planner must manage the introduction of the equipment on time and on cost. Both must employ VPS and best practice principles.
All legal, process and technical documentation must be included in the final project.
The planner/engineer will also be responsible for some strategic development of the plant systems and/or budget.
The planner is responsible for implementing machines that are critical to the production facility and will be required to make decisions on the detailed implementation of the solution.
Educational requirements: For the Planner Degree/Masters with 5-10 years experience. For the Maintenance engineer a HND with 5-10 years relevant experience.
Relevant Knowledge including machine control, automation, robotics and control engineering, building services, hydraulics, pneumatics, project management, IT networks, technical drawing skills, software design skills, machine operator protection and health and safety.
Advanced problem resolution techniques and good preventative maintenance techniques.
Good leadership and project planning skills are required.
Must be able to communicate with internal and external International partners and have the ability to sell concepts and communicate technical solution effectively.
Must be flexible in time and work place (inc. temporary international assignments)
Good knowledge of VPS principles.
Good office IT skills.
