Client has been established in the UK for almost 30 years. Working in a challenging but collaborative environment with a complex, technically innovative product for some of the largest and most successful automotive OEMs in the world.

They currently have a 6 month contract requirement for a Manufacturing Engineer, responsible for 2 key objectives:

1) Implementation of plant, equipment, processes, systems and procedures required to hand over a production line ready for use.
2) To ensure that during product life the manufacturing processes are monitored in order to identify opportunities for continuous improvements in line productivity, working practices, machines and equipment and quality.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the individual will be responsible for:

1) Product and Development
2) Production Set Up and Pre-Series
3) Serial Production

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

- Support equipment and tool specifications with Project team when required
- Investigate and select tool and machine suppliers
- Trial checklists for tools and/or machines to be completed and follow up on any outstanding issues before transfer to the plant.
- Record problems identified during the trials at the suppliers premises and ensure an action plan document is created and closed before the next trial or at an agreed time
- Create individual timing plans for tools and machines based on customer milestones.
- Review or create relevant PFMEA to support machine and tool specifications, product and process development.
- Ensure plant layout and MIFD are implemented.
- Provide all relevant information to ensure tools and equipment transfer.
- Ensure installation of equipment in plant.
- Plan contingency plan with the operation team for serial production.
- Perform production trial runs with the production team and ensure results are recorded on MPT trial documents.
- Establish forecasted work contents and line balance.
- Ensure that all documents are available prior to tool/machine transfers.
- Ensure that shop floor documentation is completed to enable personnel to carry out their roles effectively (standard operations, setting sheets, start up doc).
- Support training of the relevant personnel on any new processes, which are being introduced to the plant.
- Liaise with the Purchase and Logistics Departments for ensuring material and purchased parts are available to run MPT.
- Optimise production process in order to achieve Production Volumes during ramp up.
- Ensure Preventive Maintenance Plan is available to the maintenance team and adequate training has been provided.
- Support the production team in regards to issues and to achieve business/company QCD.


Role Requirements:

- Degree Qualified within a Mechanical or Manufacturing discipline or HND with relevant experience.
